Dash Through Snow and Fire

Location: Fowlerville, Michigan

Dash through snow and ice with this fast, fun, and unique 5k. Snow decided not to make an appearance this year but there was plenty of fire to make up for it. With hot air balloons kicking off the race, this 5k is one of a kind.

The course was not very scenic but was surprisingly easy and entertaining. It was well marked and had a hot air balloon and volunteers helping to direct people.

I grew up near Fowlerville in another small farming town. Since moving to the city, I’ve grown to appreciate the atmosphere of small towns a lot more. One aspect is the friendliness. Never have a ran a race with other runners who were as friendly and encouraging as these ones. It was a very nice experience and well worth the return for the people alone.

Registration cost included a t-shirt. A poll was given for next year to ditch the shirts and have a customized finisher medal instead. The finisher medals won the vote.

T-shirt and Top Age Group Medal

Overall fastest male and female received free entry into next year’s event and a Christmas in the Ville pint glass. Top 3 in each age group also received a medal.

Across the line!

The 5k was part of Fowerville’s holiday festival; Christmas in the Ville. There were many events and activities going on throughout the day, including a lighted parade, a chicken dinner, hot air balloon rides, and a craft show.

If you are in the greater lansing area and looking for a small, unique, and fun 5k to run next December, I highly recommend this one.

Proceeds support the Rotary Club of Fowlerville. Visit Dashing Through the Snow and Fire 5k for more information.
