Hidden in the quiet of Palmer, Michigan is a surprising waterfall. Schweitzer Falls is a roaring two-tiered, 20 foot-tall waterfall. It’s impressive width and heavy volume of water makes it a gem.

A short walk down a well-defined trail brought us to the main falls. We never would have guessed that it was here if we weren’t looking for it. The thick forest and undergrowth around the creek help blocked out the sound of the torrent waters.

Despite being only a few hundred yards from the main road, Schweitzer Falls feels like a wild and isolated waterfall.

Getting There

From Palmer, head south along M-35 to County Road 565. Turn right onto Country Road 565 and continue for about 2.9 miles. Park on the two-track on the right, just past the bridge over Schweitzer Creek.

Take the first trail to the right and follow it down towards the creek until you reach the falls, about 300 yards.
