Black Slate Falls is small but it offers so much. With variety levels in the drops, the roughness of stone, and the overall peacefulness of the area, Black Slate Falls makes the perfect location for a quiet escape.

Black Slate Falls is located just east of L’Anse, Michigan on the Slate River. It’s easy to access with a short walk up the river.

The tallest drops are at the bottom of the fall and while they aren’t very tall in height, they are quiet elegant.

Getting There

Turn off of Skanee Road onto Arvon Road. Continue for 3.4 miles. Turn left and park near the wooden logging bridge. Follow the river upstream about a half mile to view the falls.
