Participating in the Trail Town 5K

Trail Town Course

Trail Town 5K and 10K Map

One of my favorite things about this race was that the 5K and the 10K started at different times. The Lansing River Trail is not a wide pathway and congestion with an out-and-back style race like this one could become very frustrating. But because the two distances start at different times, that congestion never happened.

We started and finished at Potter Park Zoo, following the Lansing River Trail 100% of the way. This course was very easy and very flat. There were, however, some issues with crossing wooden bridges/boardwalks along the way. It had been raining all morning and the wood was so saturated that it was incredibly slippery.

There was a single aid station on the course at the 5K turn around point. It offered water to participants.

The Goodies

All participants received a very nice Trail Town t-shirt.

All finishers received a finishers medal.

Overall

If you are looking for a flat and fast race, this is the one for you. Whether you’re interested in the shorter or longer distance, it is a great race to show off a portion of the Lansing River Trail.
