Gear Review: HydraPak Velocity 1.5L Hydration Bladder

Have you ever been on a hike or run and discovered that your hydration pack is leaking? Having a hydration system that is reliable and durable is important. Whether you’re on a day hike or a long run, the HydraPak Velocity can fulfill all your hydration needs.

I have been using this hydration bladder for a little over two years now and have been pleasantly surprised. I have ran hundreds of miles relaying on it to keep me going.

Specs

  • Capacity: 1.5L
  • Dimensions: 12.3 x 5.9 inches
  • Weight: 4.4 ounces
  • Material: TPU, PP/POM, ABS, Silicone

Pros

The HydraPak Velocity is the easiest bladder I have ever owned to clean. It flips inside out for thorough cleaning inside and out.

It is extremely easy to fill and seal. The slider lock ensures that the water stays in the bladder. No leaking.

I have put hundreds of miles worth of water in the HydraPak Velocity and it looks and functions like it is brand new each and every time.

The tube doesn’t kink! No lack of water due to a twisted cord while you’re on the move.

It is BPA and PVC free.

It can be frozen as well as handle temperatures up to 140F.

Cons

The biggest problem I’ve had with this system is the tube can be difficult to insert. It can also come out if not connected tightly.

The bite valve can be difficult to dissemble for thorough cleaning.

The tube can also be difficult to clean. I recommend getting a tube brush, especially if you’re putting anything in water.

Overall

I love this hydration pack so much I bought a second one. That says it all.
