A Brockway Mountain Experience

Location: Copper Harbor

Brockway Mountain is a stunning 9 1/2 mile scenic drive between Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. It offers breathtaking views of Lake Superior, thousands of acres of woodlands, and numerous inland lakes.

We’ve driven this route twice. The first time it was so foggy we could barely see anything. The second was in early July and the views were incredible.

With nine overlooks, there are plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the view.

At the top of the mountain is a 360 degree view of the area, 735 feet above Copper Harbor. On clear days, visitors can even catch a glimpse of the distant Isle Royale.

Along with the views, wildlife is another huge draw. In Mid-April to Mid-June, Brockway Mountain because a haven for visitors to watch the migration of the birds of prey. Every year thousands hawks, eagles, falcons, and others can be observed from the mountain. For more information on the migration, visit Brockway Mountain Hawk Watch.
