When searching for a good protein bar, the first thing I do is check the ingredients. I was surprised at how many of the brands out there use soy protein as their primary protein source.
Luckily for me, I discovered EPIC. Soy free, Gluten Free, Non-GMO, quality ingredients.
The really unique thing about EPIC is they offer performance bars and meat bars in some pretty unique flavors.
Meat Bars
These bars are a high protein snack designed to “inspire your most EPIC adventures.” They are low in sugar, gluten free, grain free, soy free, and dairy free.
- Bison Bacon Cranberry
- Smoked Maple Bacon
- Chicken Sesame BBQ
- Beef Apple Bacon
- Turkey Almond Cranberry
- Beef Habanero Cherry
- Chicken Sriracha
- Lamb Currant Mint
- Smoked Salmon Maple
- Venison Sea Salt Pepper
- Wild Boar Bacon
These make great quick meals for next your next hiking or backpacking adventure and provide a lot of diversity in the flavors you can snack on.
Performance Bars
Texture is a big issue for me when it comes to any protein bars or rather when protein is added to anything. The EPIC performance bars have 12 grams of protein from cage-free egg whites and are made from simple, non-GMO ingredients.
- Peanut Butter Chocolate
- Almond Butter Chocolate
- Lemon
- Peanut Butter
To give you an idea of how simple the ingredients are, the peanut butter bar contains dates, peanuts, egg whites, peanut oil, and sea salt. That’s it.
While for me the texture is better than most protein bars, I do have to say it’s a bit different. There’s nothing out there quite like it. It’s pretty chewy with little to no crunch. The peanut butter one is also a little sticky. It’s odd. But the flavor is decent.
