Ocqueoc Falls: A Lower Peninsula Surprise

Tucked away in farm country is a small but elegant waterfall known as Ocqueoc Falls. The falls are located 11 miles west of Roger City on the Ocqueoc River. It a provides the perfect place for an afternoon of hiking, swimming, and relaxation.

Ocqueoc Falls

Because of ease of access, it’s likely you won’t have the falls to yourself. Especially in the summertime when visitors from the campground and surrounding area stop by for a quick swim in the shallow, limestone waterfall. With 3 drops to choose from and a hiking path that follows the river, there are plenty of places to get away from the crowds and still enjoy the view of the falls.

Along with Ocqueoc Falls, visitors to the scenic site have access to 6 miles of hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trails. These trails are made up in loops providing hiking opportunities to people of all levels.

Nearby is the 15 site rustic Ocqueoc Falls State Forest Campground. The campground sites are first-come, first-serve and are excellent for tents or small trailers. Like most rustic campgrounds, vault toilets and potable water from a well hand pump are available.
