A Remote Destination: King Lake Campground

What’s better than a remote campground? How about one with a lake view and islands? King Lake State Forest campground is a remote and beautiful place, located near Covington, Michigan. With only 6 sites, designed for tents and small trailers, this is a perfect place to visit if you’re looking for some peace and quite.

We had the entire place to ourselves and took what was probably the best site in the whole place. We had a gorgeous view of the lake, which would be excellent kayaking or canoeing.  The site was fairly large and pretty private but we did have a little trouble finding a place for both of our hammocks.

At $13 per night, the facilities include a vault toilet and a hand pump for water. The campground is open May through November and does require a recreational passport. For more information, visit the DNR website.
