When I read about this 5 start, 1,200 foot waterfall within a 3.4 mile hike, I had to check it out. Located in Sequoia National Park, Tokpah Falls is a well known and frequently visited waterfall. The trailhead is located within the Lodgepole Campground.
Tokopah Valley was shaped by a glacier, providing hikers with some beautiful scenery. The trail follows the Marble Fork Kaweah River through pines and firs, meadows, and rocky hill sides.
We saw a bunch of little lizards running around.
Tokopah Falls was actually a bit of a disappointment to us. It was mostly our fault and taught us a valuable lesson when traveling. Check to see if the state is in a drought before venturing out to see waterfalls.
Still, the hike was pretty and hopefully we can return later to see the falls at it’s full potential.
