Arizona’s Best: Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend gets it’s name from the horseshoe shape the Colorado River makes as it heads south to the Grand Canyon. It is quite the sight to peer over the 1,000 foot edge and see tiny boats floating in the river.

Located a half mile south of the Glen Canyon Dam in the town of Page, Arizona. From the parking to the overlook is 3/4 of a mile walk. The desert path is pretty worn in places.

While the walk isn’t far, it’s important to remember that this desert area and the 3/4 of a mile walk back to the parking area is up hill. Take a bottle of water with you, just in case you get a bit thirsty on the trek back.
