Every year over Memorial Day weekend, Steve and I head up to the U.P for a camping kick off adventure. This year we invited some of our friends who had never before experienced Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. What better place to induct them in the beauty of the U.P than Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
Silver Falls on Silver River isn’t the most impressive waterfall in the U.P but still has beauty and charm. There are two drops, upper and lower. The upper falls runs through an old dam. The lower falls was my favourite of the two. It has a pair of chutes with rapids in between.
With so many sites to see, it’s impossible to fit everything into a week. We ended up missing out on a lot of the waterfalls in Yellowstone, including some of the pretty grand ones, in order to see more geothermal areas of the park; things we just don’t see in Michigan. It was a difficult decision but when we go back, and we will go back, I plan on picking up where we left off on the hunt for waterfalls.
