December 17, 2017
It’s difficult looking back at all we have experienced this year to pick some of our favorites. 2017 brought us many opportunities to explore the state that we love. Here are just a few of our favorites.
An Icy Munising
We spent another New Year in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula at the Double D Cabins in Wetmore.
We visited all of the familiar locations; Wagner Falls, Tannery Falls, and Memorial Falls. In winter, these locations are transformed into beautiful scenes of ice and snow.

Exploring the Property
In December of 2016 we put in an offer on a piece of acreage we fell in love with several years ago. In January, we closed. We spent the majority of 2017 exploring our future home. We had a lot of firsts there this year, including 4th of July Fireworks.

Along with re-visiting a few of our favorites, this year we hiked to and discovered some new waterfalls. Some were beautiful, and some were just a pain to get to.
Carp River Falls Bushy Creek Falls Ocqueoc Falls Little Pup Falls Morgan Creek Falls Unnamed Falls on Snake Creek Mulligan Falls Lower Yellow Dog Falls Schweitzer Falls
The majority of our hikes this year focused on exploring the Huron Mountains. These were rugged, rough, wild, and extremely challenging hikes that were totally worth it. We are looking forward to doing more in the upcoming year.
Located in Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Pyramid Point is a short hike with varying terrain and some awesome views of Lake Michigan.
A Lighthouse Adventure
There were several lighthouses this year that were interesting to visit but two in particular stand out. New Presque Isle Lighthouse and Point Betsie. New Presque Isle Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse on Lake Huron and has a jaw-dropping view from the top. Point Betsie, located on Lake Michigan, providing beautiful views and fierce waves.

There were so many fantastic adventures this year that it was hard to pick some of our favorites.
Here’s to never stop exploring and hopefully, an adventure filled New Year for you and your family.
