Hiking to Hunter’s Point

While not the best views in the area, Hunter’s Point provides a quick stop with some interesting sights. Located just west of Copper Harbor, Hunter’s Point is a 9.4 acre of land that juts out into Lake Superior. It has pebbly beaches (and trails) with some nice views of basalt rock.

There are two points of access for Hunter’s Point depending on how long you want the hike to be. The first and longest is at the Copper Harbor Marina. The second is just west of the marina. There are plenty of signs along the way. The hike from this point is a short, 1.2-mile round trip hike with little elevation change. However, the majority of the trail is over thick layers of stones, making the journey a bit more difficult.

At the tip of the point are some great views of the Copper Harbor Marina, Lake Superior, and Porter’s Island. It’s a peaceful little area. It is a well-used trail so don’t expect to have it all to yourself.
